What Is an Enclosed Circuit Breaker?

An enclosed circuit breaker is a molded-case circuit breaker (MCCB) mounted inside a protective NEMA-rated enclosure. It provides local overcurrent protection and a lockable, visible means of disconnect, often required by code for service entrances, feeders, and large equipment. MCXP standardizes on rugged enclosures and proven MCCB platforms so you get dependable performance with shorter lead times.

Why Choose MCXP Enclosed Breakers?

Quick-Ship Advantage

Factory lead times on disconnects can stall projects. MCXP carries common frame sizes, operators, and enclosures so we can build, test, and ship fast—without compromising safety or documentation.

Built for Your Environment

From climate-controlled mechanical rooms to coastal sites and washdown areas, we package breakers in the right enclosure for the job: NEMA 1 (indoor), 3R (outdoor), 4 (hose-down), 4X (corrosion-resistant stainless), and 12 (dust-tight). Hazardous-location builds (NEMA 7/9) are available for classified areas.

Flexible Operation & Integration

Pick flange or rotary operators, add door interlocks, and specify auxiliary contacts for remote status. We also provide cam-lock inlets, Kirk®/Castell® key interlocks, and labeling packages to fit your lockout/tagout and switching procedures.

Proven Protection

Every ECB is configured around a high-reliability MCCB platform, with options for ground-fault protection (GFP), 100% rated breakers, and Arc Flash Reduction Maintenance modes (ERMS/RELT/DAS/ARMS) to help reduce incident energy during maintenance.
